How it works
Four steps, no employee data handed over.
Build the pulse
Start from a Quick Pulse in about two minutes, or choose your own questions from a validated library.
Share one link
One link and QR code for everyone. No employee list, no per-person tracking, no logins to manage.
Employees respond privately
Voluntary, skippable, and mobile-first. We never ask for a name, email, employee ID, or exact dollar figure.
Receive your report
Combined findings, indicators, prioritised actions, and two PDFs you can forward to leadership.
What you learn
The questions that usually stop this conversation.
Is financial pressure actually an issue here, and if so, what would help? The report answers both — even when the answer is that nothing new is needed.
- Ability to absorb unexpected expenses
- How your team says they would handle a sudden cost today — from savings, from credit, or not at all.
- Common employee coping methods
- Whether people are reaching for savings, family, payroll advances, or high-cost credit.
- Possible workplace spillover
- Focus, attendance, schedule changes, and job-change consideration that employees associate with financial pressure.
- Awareness of existing resources
- Whether the benefits and support you already pay for are actually reaching people.
- Privacy preferences
- How much it matters to employees that support is available without their manager seeing their finances.
- Support preferences
- Which kinds of help employees say they would genuinely use, ranked.
- Communication preferences
- Where employees would actually see a message — email, poster, text, or in person.
Privacy
Employees answer honestly only if you cannot see their answers.
So the product is built so that you cannot — not as a policy, but as a property of how the data is stored and served. There is no employer screen, export, or API that can return one person's response, because the design gives no way to identify one.
Buffer is completing a British Columbia private-sector Privacy Impact Assessment and an infrastructure logging review. Until those are complete we describe the survey as anonymous to your employer, rather than claiming absolute anonymity.

- Name, email address, phone number, employee ID, SIN, exact salary, exact debt, credit score, or banking information. There is no free-text box, because that is where anonymous surveys usually stop being anonymous.
- What we never store with an answer
- IP address, browser or device details, referrer, or the time of day someone responded. Only a calendar date is kept. Participant pages carry no advertising, retargeting, session-replay or analytics scripts of any kind.
- What protects small teams
- No report is produced at all below 10 responses. Any answer option chosen by fewer than 5 people is withheld — and if withholding one option would let you work it out by subtraction, a second is withheld too.
- What answers are never used for
- Loan eligibility, underwriting, pricing, servicing, collections, credit reporting, or marketing to an individual employee. There is no technical path from a survey response into any Buffer lending system.
The report
Written to be forwarded to leadership.
Indicators as plain-language bands, never scores. Findings phrased as what respondents reported. Recommendations with an owner, a timeline, and a first action — and a methodology section that says exactly what this survey can and cannot tell you.
Read the complete sample, generated from fictional data, before you create anything.
Measure it before you decide what to do about it.
The report is free and yours regardless of what it concludes. It can just as easily tell you that your workforce is resilient and no new program is needed.
